Nashville, Versailles Named Among Inaugural IMBA Trail Towns
Two Indiana communities are gaining national recognition for their outdoor spaces.

NASHVILLE, Ind. — Two Indiana communities have been recognized on a national stage for their commitment to outdoor recreation and infrastructure development. The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) named Nashville and Versailles among the inaugural group of 28 communities to receive the new “IMBA Trail Town” designation.
The designation honors places that have made exceptional commitments to developing, stewarding, and celebrating trail systems. According to IMBA, the award recognizes communities that demonstrate strong trail infrastructure, dedicated funding, active local trail organizations, and a culture of community engagement.
“IMBA Trail Towns represent communities that understand the powerful role trails play in shaping vibrant places to live, work, and play,” said Jillian Olson, IMBA Community Progress Manager, in a statement.
The selected towns were evaluated on their ability to integrate trails as essential infrastructure that supports local economies, attracts tourism, and improves overall quality of life. IMBA noted that communities investing in such systems often experience benefits ranging from small business growth to improved public health outcomes.
The 2026 inaugural list includes 28 communities across 20 U.S. states. The program aims to highlight municipalities that are setting the standard for how trails can positively shape the future of outdoor recreation.
