Indiana Honors Veterans with a Day of Outdoor Adventure and Fitness
In a gesture of gratitude and recognition for their service, all veterans and active-duty military personnel, along with everyone in their vehicle, will receive free admission to Indiana’s DNR-managed state parks, reservoir properties, state forest recreation areas, and off-road state recreation areas this Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th. This initiative, which also includes free entry to the Falls of the Ohio State Park’s Interpretive Center, encourages a day of fitness and outdoor exploration in Indiana’s natural landscapes.
Brandt Baughman, director of Indiana State Parks, expressed his appreciation, stating, “We honor the sacrifices and service of our veterans and active-duty military and look forward to recognizing them with a day exploring some of Indiana’s most treasured natural places.”
This special offer provides a fantastic opportunity for service members and their families to engage in a variety of healthy outdoor activities. From hiking and biking on scenic trails to enjoying the tranquility of nature, Indiana’s state properties offer diverse options for physical well-being and mental rejuvenation. Whether it’s a brisk walk through a state park, a challenging ride on an off-road trail, or simply a peaceful picnic amidst the autumn foliage, the day is designed to promote an active lifestyle.
Veterans and active-duty military personnel simply need to inform the gate attendant of their status upon arrival to receive complimentary admission for their entire vehicle. It’s a small token of appreciation for their immense contributions, inviting them to experience the beauty and recreational opportunities that Indiana’s natural resources provide.
