Mendez, Robertson Capture Titles at 2nd Annual Frightening 2 and 4 Miler
DARMSTADT, Ind. — Jeremy Mendez blazed through the crushed gravel course at the Vanderburgh 4-H Center on Sunday afternoon, claiming the men’s 4-mile title at the 2nd annual Frightening 2 and 4 Miler presented by Tri-State Fitness.
The 19-year-old Indiana runner crossed the finish line in 21:35.7, nearly two minutes ahead of runner-up Isaac Allen, who posted a time of 23:44.0.
In the women’s 4-mile race, Lillie Robertson, 21, took home top honors with a time of 29:30.9, holding off a strong challenge from Isabel Allen, 22, who finished second in 29:44.8.
The Halloween-themed running event, held at the Vanderburgh County Fairgrounds, offered participants their choice of either a 2-mile or 4-mile distance on a scenic and hilly course that featured crushed gravel sections along the 4-H Center grounds.

Mendez’s commanding performance set the pace early, establishing a lead he would never relinquish. Allen, a 17-year-old competitor, secured second place with a solid effort, while Scott rounded out the podium in third.
In a tight battle for fourth place, 15-year-old Sallee edged ahead, just two seconds faster than veteran runner Nurjianto, who completed the top five.

Robertson’s winning time showcased her fitness and race strategy on the challenging two-lap course. Allen pushed hard throughout, finishing less than 14 seconds behind the winner to claim the silver medal position.
McCord demonstrated impressive form for her age group, taking third place overall, while Healy finished fourth and Silvera rounded out the top five women.
Event Details
The race, timed by To the Finish Timing, began at 2 p.m. Central Time and featured awards for the top two overall finishers in each gender, as well as age group awards spanning nine categories from 13 and under through 80 and above.
The event location provided an ideal setting for the late October race, with each lap measuring approximately 2 miles in length around the fairgrounds property.
Tri-State Fitness, which presented the event for the second consecutive year, continues to build on the success of this unique fall racing opportunity in the Evansville area. The festive atmosphere and competitive racing combined to create a memorable afternoon for runners of all abilities.
